Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, also known as "The Little Flower of Jesus", was a French Carmelite nun in the nineteenth century. Someone who undoubtedly loved this saint, thought enough of her to create this framed beauty containing her portrait and adorned with gorgeous handmade, French beaded flowers.

This piece is most likely closer to an antique than a vintage collectible, but I'm not certain of its age. It may have been made as a devotional and displayed in the home. There is a slight reddish mark on the portrait (see picture #5), that may be a remnant of lipstick from someone kissing the saint in prayer.

The wooden plaque measures 9" in length by 7" wide, and doesn't include the additional scrolled bead work around the frame. The bead work is detailed throughout, with the largest flower on the bottom measuring approximately 1.5" in diameter. The colors of blue, white, yellow, red, and purple are vibrant and coordinate beautifully.
