This is truly a lovely little dress! It's very unusual I think. Most antique girl's dresses are all white. The fabric is a nice quality cotton, still strong and in good condition. In fact, amazingly good condition for being in the neighborhood of 100 years old! The stitching on this dress is absolutely exquisite. Where do I start? There is some machine stitching on the red bands and the pin tucking, but the majority of the work is done by hand. ALL of that embroidery you see is hand work! The sash is held in place under every belt loop with tiny buttons top and bottom. In each space there are four button holes, all hand bound- tiny, tiny hand bound button holes. Each inside seam is hand sewn and hand bound in the old proper way. This was made in a time when ladies took pride in their stitchery. The hours and hours that must have gone into it is inconceivable in today's world. The lady who made this piece was highly skilled. Please, if you purchase this dress, do take the time to get a magnifying glass and admire this lost art!

This dress is in the drop waist style. I would estimate sometime between the turn of the century, to no later than 1915. It is very small-- toddler size. I will list measurements below.
Overall, it is in wonderful shape, but it does have a couple of small imperfections. There are some faint age spots. One on the upper part of the shaped sleeve that I have pictured and some on the embroidery-- upper right hand quadrant of the photo. It's really very light. There is one tiny pinhole on the sash and the biggest flaw is under on of the belt loops, the button has pulled a hole in the fabric. I have left it as is. It could be mended, this fabric will hold stitching. On the back side of the sash, there are a couple more faint age spots. And of course, some slight fading of the red banding and embroidery thread.

I have laundered and ironed it. You need do nothing except display this lovely item from the past. Perhaps on an antique doll?

The back across the shoulders 9"
Length from shoulder seam to hem is 19 1/2"
Sleeve length is 10"
8 belt loops are 3/4" x 2 1/2"
