Seller's description

This is a vintage needlepoint embroidery pattern of stained glass candles that can be worked as needlepoint or regular embroidery. You choose! It is a vintage Sunset Designs' pattern from the 1970s.

This is a PATTERN ONLY.

You will be purchasing a DIGITAL COPY of the pattern. You will receive a PDF and JPEG file of the pattern with instructions once payment is confirmed to the email you have on file with your Etsy account. Full instructions to complete the pattern are included. This pattern is best printed on 11 x 17 paper. You may resize the pattern to your liking using your own software.

There are several ways to transfer the design to fabric:

1. Use a light box or window with the pattern placed behind your fabric. Trace the pattern onto the fabric using a water soluble fabric transfer pen, pencil or fine line marker. I like to pin the pattern to my fabric to prevent slipping when tracing. If using a window, I tape the pinned pattern and fabric to a large window for best results.

2. Using iron-on pens or pencils found in a fabric or craft store, trace the design directly on the back side of the pattern. Once traced, turn the design right side up, place your fabric under the design and iron to transfer your pattern to the fabric. If using this method, make sure to trace your design with a heavy hand to ensure there is enough ink to be transferred to the fabric when ironing. When ironing, do not "shift" the pattern or you will end up with uneven, sloppy lines.

3. You can trace the pattern directly onto the fabric by placing a piece of dress makers carbon between the pattern and fabric.

My favorite method is tracing using a light box or window on a sunny day.

This is a vintage pattern and suggested materials may not be readily available. The internet is full of solutions and substitutes to complete the project. I have used embroidery floss and tapestry wool with great success.

The project, as shown, when completed is approximately 9" x 12". Such a great addition to your kitschy Christmas display!
