This is an authentic Japanese glass fishing float. It is about 2.5" in diameter. It is a shade of teal blue. This float was hand blown from recycled glass & is at least 40 years old, but possibly older. The Japanese began making floats around 1910 & they continued until the early 1970's.

This float bears the kawaguchi marks on the seal button. When translated, kawaguchi means "river mouth". This float was hand blown at the Kawaguchi Glass Company of Northern Japan.

This type of float was commonly used for octopus fishing.

Glass fishing floats are ideal for home/beach/nautical decor, outdoor decor & ponds, and they make unique recycled gifts!

All of the floats I sell were once working floats & were actually used for fishing. I don't sell any reproductions, colored contemporary floats, or those meant for the gift trade.

NEW SHIPPING POLICY: Due to the increase in international shipping charges, I will gladly send any boxes under 4 pounds via first-class mail. It is much less expensive, but will take quite a bit longer to receive. If you would like your floats sent this way, please message me or make a note when you make your purchase. I will refund the difference in shipping charges.

For example, I just sent a single 3" float to the UK. Priority was $28. First-class mail was just under $10. I sent a 3" float to Australia for $13.00.
