1880s Victorian Dress Set - As Is Hourglass Bodice & Bustled Skirt - Authentic Antique - Taupe and Silk Satin - Bust 34 Waist 23 Size 0

1880s Victorian dress set, so picturesque in two-tone silk with a bustled hourglass silhouette. This authentic antique dress includes three pieces: a boned bodice, richly detailed skirt, and separate band of extra trim. The bodice has a standing collar, vertical darts to the nipped waist, and a flared hem with beautiful fullness to the back. Bodice has piped satin panels at the neckline, and matching richly pleated cuffs reminiscent of a musketeer.

Skirt is a narrow bell with a flat front and richly knife-pleated hems. Its back waist has tight accordion pleating, and there's a band sewn across the seat that likely indicates another piece would have been sewn or added here as a bigger bustle. The extra trim (not pictured) is about 100 inches long, in an overlapped design of satin outlined "petals".

Condition is poor, not wearable due to fabric loss throughout and general fragility (see Condition Detail below). A classic example of the 1870s to 1880s.

Not wearable, best for display or remaking; the taupe fabric has weft fabric loss throughout all three pieces, exposing loose ribs and tears in most areas; no buttons and no closures present; some small holes in linings and facings; silk satin trims are mostly intact with a few scant threadbare hints; mild discoloration primarily to lining; some of the stitching that connects the neckline satin is missing; the extra trim likely would have been attached to the skirt
