Great gift for Dad! This is an out-of-print 1st edition illustrated hardcover book with dust jacket. There were several reprints later on, but this is the original 1991 by Random House.

Excellent companion for the gun collector and Winchester collection. 404 pages, 8.5 inches x 11 inches wide.

Title page reads:
"Winchester, An American Legend, by R.L. Wilson. The Official History of Winchester Firearms and Ammunition from 1849 to the Present." Photography by G. Allen Brown. Random House, New York.

Book itself is in excellent condition, may have been gone through once but pages don't show any wear. The dust jacket has a tear at top of spine (photo)--which I will repair before mailing it out unless you prefer to have it done professionally. The book was put in storage soon after purchase but the tear is fairly recent during a move.

Includes bibliographic references and index, b/w and color photos. Appendix includes ammunition tables, production and serial number charts.

It will ship to US addresses only via USPS media rate. If you want to receive it faster, convo me and I'll change to the Priority rate, $12.80.

Frequently asked questions about saffronfields

Magazine advertisements printed on paper in the 1900s are now reaching fifty years of age and older. They naturally lose their moisture and tend to tear and bend easily. They usually bear bump marks, staple holes, torn edges, a rough edge where it was attached to the spine of the magazine, creases and wrinkles. Handle with care and protect in an acid free polypropylene sleeve or behind glass. Keep away from sunlight to prevent fading. Ironing with steam will not take out the wrinkles or creases.
Paper advertisements and botanical prints are mailed in archival plastic sleeves. If you would like them sent as gifts, I will cover the sleeves with decorative paper after inserting with cardboard for support, and tie with a simple bow. Then ship in a rigid mailer. If you wish, a simple card will be enclosed with a message you provide. Just let me know what you want in your request.
All advertisement and botanical prints come from books and magazines with the borders, staple holes and rough edges untrimmed. If you wish, you may request that they be trimmed off to size. Just let me know what you need.
Ads from fashion magazines in this shop are 12.25 inches high x 9.5 inches wide; if attached, as in a two page centerfold, dimensions are 12.25 in high x 19 in wide. They are quite thin except for cover pages, which are about 24 lb.

Botanical plates are on quality paper with a sheen; sheet dimensions (untrimmed) are 10-1/2" x 13" (26.6 cm x 33 cm). Some contain artwork that cover the entire page whereas some artwork are encased in a central area measuring 9.5 x 7.75 inches (24 cm x 19.6 cm)--you can identify these as ones with plant names written on the lower half of the page.
If you would like any image duplicated and sold in bulk, please direct your inquiry through email and I will respond. Fees/prices depend on the amount of digital manipulating required to get the final product to a satisfactory state and the duplicating rates charged locally.
