GEMCUTTER'S CORNER: Over the past few years, morganite has become a popular choice as a pink/peach gemstone for engagement rings. As a gemcutter having worked with gemstones for over 20 years, morganite would not be my first recommendation as a pale pink gemstone choice to be used for a fine piece of jewelry. There are other affordable gemstones that come in similar shades of pink, which are harder (more resistant to scratching) and that have not been irradiated. Morganite can potentially fade due to natural heat from sunlight. The paler morganites tend not to be problematic.

Sapphires are a 9 in hardness and the most durable gemstone available. Spinels are an 8 in hardness and tourmalines are 7 in hardness. Spinel is one of the few gemstones that does not receive any type of treatment or enhancement and they have a higher refractive index (more potential for brilliance) than morganite. Tourmalines also come in many lovely shades of pink, and in the paler shades, cost about the same as morganite. Sapphires and Tourmalines typically receive heat treatment, which is basically an extension of the natural formation of gemstones (heat & pressure), and the treatment is 100% stable.

Frequently asked questions about PristineJewelry

We completely understand that purchasing gemstones and fine gemstone jewelry is a daunting process at the best of times; particularly over the internet.

To help you know about with whom it is that you are working, we have compiled information on us from 3rd party sources on our website blog. There is a limit to the amount of information that we can share here on Etsy FAQ, so please copy and paste the following URL to your address bar: http://pristinegemstonejewelry.com/frequently-asked-questions/

Question number 1 in the FAQ should provide all of the information that you are looking for.
Because we are wholesale suppliers, we carry 1000s of gemstones, and it isn’t feasible to have all of our stones certified, nor would it be standard practice for any supplier. The reason for this is that appraisals/certificates should be prepared by an objective 3rd party. Using an in-house gemologist is a conflict of interest. Therefore, when it is time to have a stone certified/appraised we send it out to a 3rd party.

Rogerio has been wholesaling and cutting gemstones for over 24 years. He is very skilled at identifying stones.

We offer complimentary appraisals on all of our items priced over $1800USD. For items below $1800USD, if a customer requests an appraisal or certificate, there will be an additional fee of $60USD
We do offer layaway plans for some items; however, we encourage our customers to use Paypal Credit rather than set up a layaway plan with us. Using PayPal credit, you get your piece right away and can use it for any item listed in our shop (we would not even know you used Paypal credit).

To use Paypal credit you just need to have a Paypal account and select "paypal credit" at check out. It is very simple. Fore more info, visit https://www.paypalcredit.com/index.html

We do not offer financing.
We are limited for space to answer that question here on Etsy, so please copy and paste this URL in your address bar and you will be redirected to our website blog: http://pristinegemstonejewelry.com/non-heat-treated-sapphires/
We do offer custom orders. Please copy and paste the following URL to your address bar to read details about the custom order process with us.
