A great Americana doll! One of my favorites.
The doll body is made of muslin that's been tea stained giving it a good primitive look. The body is firmly stuffed even to the tips of the crown. The arms and legs are stuffed only part way so that the doll can be posed when seated although she looks best when hanging. There is a sturdy thread hanger on the back.
The doll face is drawn on using art pencil pastels. The crown is colored a nice gold using the pencils. The nose is stitched for soft sculpting.
Around the doll's neck is a star necklace that I twisted from some rusty wire.
The skirt is made from tea stained osnaburg and hand gathered and tied at the waist. On top of the gathers I've tied a strip of blue w/gold stars fabric into a bow. Wrapped around the shoulders is a paisley print of barn red and cream fabric that is crossed in front and held in place by the blue fabric.
All fabrics have raw edges and some loose threads to add to the primitive look.
