Ikebana is a japanese art form of flower arranging which emphasizes other areas of the plant, such as its stems and leaves, and draws emphasis toward shape, line, form. It is minimalistic composition and the container is included as an important element to be featured.

I employed the methods of coiling and pinching to create this piece. Fired to stoneware temperature in an electric kiln. Comes with flower pin frog for holding flowers in place in a shallow cup.

As a lifelong resident of the mitten state, I am consistently inspired by the great lake shores, bog lands, and swampy forests of Michigan. These places and spaces come to mind as I work with clay, the tactile process of handling this living medium influences mediation.
