This high quality book plate is of an original poster announcing the acquisition of celebrated Anglo-American artist David Hockney's work, "Mulholland Drive: The Road to the Studio" by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Hockney, arguably one of the world's most influential British artists of the twentieth century, called California home for several decades and was a resident of the Hollywood Hills. Along with Andy Warhol, he is considered a founder of the Pop Art movement. He painted the poster's main image, "Mulholland Drive: The Road to the Studio", on canvas in 1980.

About the Artist ...
World-renowned artist David Hockney was born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1937. He knew he wanted to be an artist by the time he was ten and subsequently studied at Bradford College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London where he received a Gold Medal upon graduating in 1962.

Throughout the 1960’s, Hockney's art career grew exponentially. Absorbed in his work, he forged new ideas about seeing the world by intensely exploring a variety of forms. Working in almost every medium (painting, drawing, stage design, photography, and printmaking), he stretched the boundaries of all of them...from new ways of representing perspective and his use of brilliant colors, to his vivid multidimensional photo collages and fax art, computer printings and colored laser prints. By constantly questioning, seeking, and taking nothing for granted, he has opened new horizons on how we perceive the world and how art can alter our vision.

Hockney's been one of the most critically acclaimed artists of modern times, and the world's most prestigious galleries continue to celebrate his extraordinary work through solo exhibits each year. If you aren't familiar with his work, I suggest doing some research. He's truly a creative genius and visionary. You may even want to read his 1993 autobiography, "That’s The Way I See It."

The best way to determine which belt size you wear is to measure a current belt that fits you well. The next best way to determine your correct size is to run a tape measure through your belt loops while wearing the pants. Detailed instructions are spelled out in all belt listings.
No problem. This happens sometimes. You are welcome to return the belt in exchange for a new one or return for a refund. I've found it's easier on my bookkeeping and quicker for you to get the correct size if you place a separate order for the correct size. When you return the unwanted belt to me (contact me for my address; USPS First Class is fine), I will issue a refund (less original shipping costs) when it's received back in its original, unused, undamaged condition and with the belt keeper/loop still attached as I can't re-sell it this little piece is lost.
