VINTAGE FAUX TWEED SUITCASE

Abercrombie Reynolds stood on the train station platform, steam from the idling locomotive drifting up into the overhead lights. He was awaiting the 9:45 PM to Toledo holding what was left of his life in his small brown tweed suitcase. His stomach was alarmingly close to his throat as he anxiously contemplated the variety of scenarios that might play out in Toledo.

Abercrombie was down to his last $3.23 but he had his ticket and he had a job. Now he just had to prove that he was the best duplex-crossmember salesman in the U. S. of A. He had promised Acme Crossmember Company of Toledo, Ohio that he was THE man to pull them out of their three-year sales slump. Now he had to deliver.

The conductor called out, "Aaaaaaaall Aboard for Toledo, Ohio...aaaall aboard."

The locomotive let out a long sigh of steam which broke the tension he was holding in. "Yes, I CAN do it, Yes, I"m their man," he said aloud as he gripped his suitcase and stepped up into the train car...onto his track of destiny.

ITEM DESCRIPTION:
We found this sweet old suitcase which has seen some miles on it and would look great in a shabby/cottage chic decor. It is a hard case with straight sides so it would be a good stacker. It is 21" X 12" X 6.5" and is covered in light brown faux tweed with nice stripes down the center and a leather wrapped handle. It has brass tone hardware. The inside is lined with a red and cream gingham pattern ed fabric and has pockets on three sides of the bottom as well as a large pocket on the inside of the lid. The lid on this case folds flat when opened. We found no manufacturer label on it. We are dating it to the 1930's or 40's. This case would look great stacked on this case: https://www.etsy.com/listing/96432184/shabby-brown-tweed-hard-suitcase-great

CONDITION:
The case has lots of travel patina on the exterior with a goodly amount of scuffs, scars and some stains. The lid's fabric hinge is coming a way from the base so you have to take care when you open and close the lid but it still shuts tight and the leather wrapped handle is in good shape. Both latches work properly (no keys included) they do have some rust and pitting. The interior fabric is still attached with no holes or rips. The interior does have some stains and a light vintage luggage smell but no foul musty, mothball or tobacco odors.
