Mosaiced antique table.

This is a rather odd piece... the table was my great-grandmother's, and had been sitting in our basement for years. As happens frequently, I was scrounging around down there trying to find something to become my next mosaic project. I had been sitting, ruminating on how past summers had been, how this one was shaping up, and how I hoped it would turn out. My thoughts immediately flew to the cozy bonfires that have so defined summertime in my mind. The bonfires turned to memories of late-night movies, skinny-dipping on the lake, and car rides to nowhere that seemed to always end up with my friends and I laying out under the dark sky somewhere. That's when it hit me: the one thing that held all these experiences together, past, present, and future, was the stars. They had always stayed the same, yet had held a marked and fond place in my life. I knew that no matter what happened this summer, or any summer for that matter, they would remain comfortingly unchanged.
This was my inspiration for the simple star design of this piece.

The table measures 29" tall, 31" across, and 12" wide. It is not meant to bear heavy loads (it is, after all, an antique) but would do well as a decorative piece and as a plant table or display table.

As with all mosaic pieces, there are sharp edges throughout the design and should be handled with care.

The grout is waterproof but not frost-proof; I do not recommend leaving it outside.

Note: The shipping on this item is unusually high because it does not come apart. It has to be shipped assembled. If you are interested in purchasing and live in the Mpls/St. Paul area, message me and we can figure out a pick-up/delivery and forego shipping costs.
