This incredible dimensional sterling silver crown pin was designed by Adolph Katz for Coro Craft Sterling. Coro Craft was Coro’s high end line of costume jewelry (1942-44). The design patent date is July 20, 1944 (see picture 4). This gorgeous vintage pin is jeweled with simulated moonstones, a glass ruby, and sapphire and clear rhinestones. These amazing crown pins were created in many different color combinations, and I particularly like this grouping. The brooch has an applied cartouche on the back with a maker’s mark of Pegasus and “Coro” (script) “CRAFT” and “STERLING.” It was once gilded, but now bears only remnants of that gold wash (mostly on the reverse).

The three 8.5mm x 10mm oval cabochons just glow when viewed in a certain light. All rhinestones are present, with the blue baguette replaced long ago. It also looks like some of the blue chatons have been re-set as there is minor glue residue if you look under a loupe. There is also some patina on the reverse. This quality made vintage brooch is in very good vintage condition overall for its 68 years of age. It is a stunning piece to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, and very collectible as it is an early Coro design.

SIZE: 1-15/16”W x 1-1/2”H
