Children's mechanical leg braces from the 1940s, most likely used for children with rickets or polio. This is a complete apparatus, marked with the Edwards brand. Brown leather walking shoes are well worn with original soles and laces. No size on the shoes but they measure7 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide (measured on sole.)

The braces are metal, with primitive screw joints making them adjustable. The upper portion are covered in a heavy flesh colored material. The overall height of the leg braces are 28 inches and connect to a heavy lambswool and elastic waist band. There are also elastic bands at the knees.

This would make an excellent addition to any medical oddities collection or a wonderful source of parts for robotic sculptures.
