The SUNSHINE FAMILY were a line of POSEABLE VINYL dolls made by the MATTEL company in the 1970s. Each doll has articulated legs and hips and moveable arms. They were an attempt by Mattel to capitlise on the popularity of 'hippie' culture and presented a laidback homely family with environmental concerns.

They were made in Taiwan, and each doll is marked with 1973 MATTEL INC. TAIWAN. Perhaps due to the connection with Asia, the SUNSHINE FAMILY dolls all have MANGA / ANIME style features - snub noses and large oval shaped eyes - reminiscent of the Japanese version of Barbie, LICCA, and Ken, WATURU.

This doll is STEVE the father from the SUNSHINE FAMILY, he stands 9.5 inches tall and a red ribbed turtleneck and blue corduroy trousers. He has stunning, and slightly long, golden brown locks and bare feet. This would make the perfect gift for a SUNSHINE FAMILY collector or someone who just loves, well, kitsch!
