This pretty cast iron trivet is the Grain & Tassel pattern from 1951. John Zimmerman Harner had an interest in preserving rare trivets, and his trivets were based on actual antique designs. Harner had a foundry where his trivets were cast - the Union Manufacturing Company, located in Boyerstown, Pennsylvania.

It can be used to keep hot items off of the counter, or hung on the wall for decoration. As you can see in the pictures, this trivet has been painted. Based on our research, we believe that Harner's company sold some of their trivets painted and some unpainted, because the painted ones that we have seen seem to all be painted the same exact colors.

Measurements are 5 1/2" across at the widest point, and 8 5/8" tall (including the handle). This trivet is in good vintage condition. There are three feet on the back to elevate it off of your table or counter, and there is a hole in the top of the handle for hanging. It is marked on the back with J.Z.H., 1951, 10.

We have several other trivets available, which you can view here:
