The Statement Dress.

I can totally picture Kate Middleton wearing this vintage 1980s Oscar de la Renta khaki green dress. This dress also makes me think of Victoria Beckham's lovely creations (only this one probably inspired her and it's a teeny tiny fraction of what one of her divine dresses would cost!) This dress is one of my FAVORITE dresses I have ever found. It is so well constructed. The craftsmanship is unbelievable. It looks like haute couture....but it's from Saks. Still it was a pretty penny in it's day, just not the crazy (astronomically expensive) prices of couture dresses. The dress doesn't have a material label but I think it's a wool gabardine. And the lining isn't a polyester. No ma'am. It's silk. I love that the dress features two side pockets and dolman sleeves. The dress has shoulder pads and a back zipper.

This listing is for the dress only.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress!

Oscar de la Renta is one of my favorite designers. He makes beautiful (and wearable) clothing that are timeless. (You know he's got to be good cause he's besties with with Anna Wintour.) Oscar de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican designer trained under Balenciaga and Castillo. He also worked for Lanvin and Balmain. Oscar de la Renta gained fame for dressing Jackie Kennedy in the 1960s. His gowns dominate the red carpet and he has won numerous awards including CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award and the induction into the Coty Hall of Fame in 1973.

History/Backstory: A Tracey Treasure. I purchased this while in Virginia from a specialist designer dealer for my own designer collection. It was love at first sight and I had to have it. I have decided that it really is unfair that it just hangs in the closet. It really needs to be out and about in the world. This beauty must be shared.

Condition: Very Good. I was absolutely gutted to discover a 'weaker' place in the fabric. On the back of the dress. Not a hole. Please see Photo 5. It does not impact the wearability or overall appearance. Please convo if you would like additional photos.

Label: Saks Fifth Avenue
Oscar de la Renta

Made in U.S.A.

Material: No material label. It feels and looks like wool gabardine. The lining feels and looks like Silk.

Care: No Label. I would suggest a top rate dry cleaner.

Measurements:

(All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat and all buttons buttoned, zippers zipped....you get the idea. Measurements are doubled where appropriate, i.e. for bust, waist, hips. Measurements are in inches. I still haven't mastered the metric system.) Please note that clothes are usually pinned for the best fit on the skinny minny mannequin and dress form.

Length: 37 1/2"

Bust: 27" (straight across); 32" (from underarm to underarm).*dolman sleeves.

Waist: 28"

Hips: 33"

Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 22 3/8"

Back (shoulder to shoulder): 13 3/4"
