These beads are made of natural boulder opal from Queensland, Australia. The first photo shows them from the side & next two show both ends. There are 3 beads total and they measure:

10x5mm - top flatter bead
14x12.5mm - thick center bead
18x15mm - large bottom bead

Boulder opal is named as such because the precious opal has formed colorful veins in the cracks and fissures of the host stone (or boulder). This host stone is usually ironstone and is a mottled reddish brown color. Ironstone is a sedimentary rock which contains a large amount of an iron compound giving it it's name & coloration. You will notice in the large bead that there are some small sections of ironstone missing. This may be a result of the cutting & polishing process or natural to the stone - I'm not sure. Please be aware that they are there & this has ben factored into the price. Careful positioning of this when designing should help.

The opal veins in these beads are quite brilliantly colored. There are bright flashes of primarily green, blue & purple and the beads were polished to a satiny finish (not a high gloss) which I think accentuates the colorful opal flash.

You will receive the exact 3 beads shown, the only ones I have.
