Mawata silk hankies -- 100% Silk Fiber that you can spin, knit (without spinning), or use in felting, paper making, or collage. Don't be intimidated to try this fiber -- I've provided a lot of useful information in my blog to help you along:

This listing is for one 10gram stack (approx 10-12 hankies/layers) in the colorway shown in the first two photos and described below. I can dye more of this colorway on request. Keep reading for more info on Mawata silk hankies. You'll need several 10gram packages depending on your project, or just buy one to play around with and see if you like it.

Wild BlackBerry: bright intense fuchsia pinks, deep red/burgundy purples and red-purples that go nearly black. In my Hitchhiker Scarf (pattern by Martina Behm), the darkest purple stripes were knitted with this colorway.

Mawata Silk!
This is 100% silk fiber that is a stack of individual cocoons that have had their glue removed and have been stretched into a square "hanky" shape. You peel off individual layers for use in several crafts. They have recently become very popular in the knitting world since you can stretch each square into a length of yarn and knit directly without having to prepare or spin the fiber beforehand. It's easy and lots of fun. I have shown photos of two different scarves I am knitting/have knitted with mawata silk hankies. The pattern is Hitchhiker Scarf by Martina Behm, and I bought mine off Ravelry as a download.

My multicolor scarf has 34 "teeth" and measures 52" long by 9" at the widest point. I used 40 grams of mawata silk hankies to knit it. Mawata is best sold by weight. You can knit a pair of women's mitts with 30-40grams. A longer or larger scarf than mine shown would require more than 40grams.

I have posted three detailed blog entries on this fiber -- what it is, how to use it, and frequently asked questions about it. All three entires were posted on Saturday June 23. You can read the entries here:

Also feel free to convo me any questions you might have about this product.

Hand wash gently in lukewarm water; lay flat to dry

I hand-dye all my yarns one at a time, with care and attention to detail. I live in a non-smoking, dog/cat-free home.

Packages ship within three business days of receipt of payment. Please read my profile box for details on my policies.

I ship by Airmail to the US and Canada. Most packages arrive in one to two weeks.

**International/Overseas Buyers Only: Shipping rates listed are for Airmail. Surface/Ground takes two to three months, but Airmail typically takes one to three weeks. If you prefer the cheaper method of shipping and don't mind a really long wait, I can refund you the difference between Airmail and surface and ship it that way instead. Surface rates are usually the same as those listed to the US.
