I made this beach glass necklace with a diamond shaped bright green "mermaid tear" in a sterling silver teardrop frame.

The pendant hangs on an 17" sterling chain with an extension up to 20" The pendant is about 1 1" long.

Sea Glass takes at least 40-60 years to form naturally tumbling in the ocean. Most glass found in the USA dates from the 1800's to the 1960's. It starts as wine bottles, dishware, art glass, windows, canning jars, ink bottles etc that end up in the ocean. The glass breaks up and becomes soft as the tide and waves move the pieces around the ocean floor. From a colonial era onion bottle to a 1930's coke bottle, there is a little bit of history infused in each piece.

Bright green dates from the 1950's to 1970's and often comes from soda pop bottles such as Fanta.

I collect all my sea glass by hand and it is all in the shape that I find it on the beach. None of it is machine tumbled or shaped.

Shipping price reflects priority USPS in the USA.
