A wonderful vintage postage scale with incremental weight measurements and postal rates for mailings up to a pound. Initial postage rate starting at .03 cents for letters and .01 cent for catalogs!! Beautiful black metal scale decorated with a floral pattern.

Gem postal scales were made by Triner Scales who have been manufacturing scales since 1897. The .03 cent postal rate was in effect twice in America's postal history, first from Nov. 1917 until July 1919 as a temporary rise in postal rates during the war. The second time the postal service charged the .03 cent rate was between 1932 and 1958.

- Approximate Size: 4.5 in. x 4.5 in. x 3 in.

Some paint loss, rust and age related wear but still in good condition although I would not guarantee it's accuracy.
