This fabric is beautiful, incredibly soft and light as a feather. It reminds me of melted butter when I'm working with it. It will help you create images that are stunning and full of movement...and your clients will love the pictures! We use it at every single photo shoot we do, and the images are always a top seller! You can see by the images that this fabric moves and flows wonderfully! This fabric is hard to find at retail fabric stores such as JoAnn Fabrics. Personally, I have never known them to carry it...nor have I found it at any retail fabric store chain. I did find it once at a speciality fabric retail store, and it sold for $38/yard. Our largest quantity of this fabric is in IVORY, but we do have lower quantities in other colors . Visit our super store here to see the other colors: http://maternityandnewbornphotographypropshop.bigcartel.com/
(The last image was made using the Ivory color, and has a Photoshop Action run on it that makes it look blue.)

You need to use this fabric correctly to get the effects you see in our images. If you do purchase it, please email us once you've made your purchase and we can send you instructions on how to use it to create beautiful images.

I can assure you that this is NOT a sheer curtain material...or just a low quality type of fabric that you can find in any store. It is 100% pure silk. If you are unsure about anything with regards to the fabric when you receive it, please contact me...I'm happy to help you! I want to assure that you love this fabric!

********** PLEASE NOTE **********

This material is a long rectangular shape. Short end edges are NOT FINISHED. This is a hi-end silk, and therefore, is torn to size instead of cut. This is the only way to get a perfectly straight cut/tear/edge on silk. Therefore, there will be slight fraying on the short edges where it is torn to size only. Edges will not fray any more than they are when you receive it. We have been using our same piece for over 5 years...and the edges have not frayed any more than they were when we first got it. The long edges are finished. Not hemmed, but finished the same way as any fabric is when it is created. Please click on each image to make it larger, and look at them CLOSELY. This is how your edges will look when you photograph the material. I have tried to show the torn edge with the slight fraying as well as possible in the first image. All images shown are the same exact piece of fabric as we only have one that we use...and these images were taken over the course of 5 years. You can see that the fabric doesn't look any different now than it did 5 years ago. The piece we use is IDENTICAL to the piece you will receive, and it is beautiful fabric!

*************** TESTING FOR 'REAL' SILK ****************

So how can you test to see if your silk fabric is actually silk?

1. Burn it!

Make sure to use all safety precautions associated with an open flame - goggles, tongs, and a way to put out the fire in case it gets out of control..

Take a piece of the silk - if you're testing fabric take a sample thread of both the warp AND the weft. Hold near the flame till it starts to burn - Don't set it on fire, but burn it until you get a good ash. Silk will stop burning when pulled from the flame. Silk always burns to a hard black ball. After it's cool, crush it between your fingers - a silk ball always crushes totally to a black powder.

Synthetics burn to hard uncrushable balls, and often drip and will spatter easily so be careful. Rayon burns to a very fine ash, usually light grey and there isn't any ball present. Most often "fake or artificial silk" will be one of these two if it's not real silk!

A lot of people swear by the smell of burning - I trust the ash more than what I smell. But if you're a smell kinda person and are burning enough to get a good smell, then silk smells like burning protien, like your hair on fire.

Thanks for looking!
