Vintage black cat teapot, made by Shafford in the 1950s - now this is cute vintage. Made in Japan of red ware (red clay pottery - see photo #4), this dressed up kitty is ready to pour your tea. His tail curves upward to create the handle, while his front two paws clasp together to create the spout.

Glossy black glaze with white eyelashes and detailing. His green eyes are set off by the bright red bow tie. In perfect condition, this kitty can be found for $80+. This one however has one flaw: the base of the lid is chipped (see photo #4). When the head/lid is on the teapot, it is not visible in any way.

The glaze is perfect and the detailed hand painting as survived 60+ years. It's really in excellent shape.

Approximately 6" tall by 8" wide (handle to spout). Collectible for cat lovers, teapot collectors or Red Ware fans! Or just imagine it in a 50s style black and white kitchen....!
