Item details

Vintage from the 1970s

Materials

silk, beading

When I was young, I remember hearing about people "dropping by" Hong Kong to get a suit or a dress made. It was always made to sound like the thing to do if you had money. And talk was, the craftsmanship was exquisite and the fabric was always the finest. Undoubtedly, some of the best clothing came out of that area during that time period. Because they were each hand crafted in small shops to specific measurements, I call these lovely pieces, "Hong Kong Couture."

This dress, which I am guessing to be from the earlier 70s, based on its cut and the type of nylon zipper, is made with a beautiful mint green silk, lined in, I believe, silk, as well. The beads all appear connected to the garment. There are some, three to five, small rust colored spots at the hem, most of which came out in my rinse that I gave the dress. This is a good indication that a professional dry cleaner should be successful in removing all of them.

The last picture is of the dress inside out so that you can see its construction.

The measurements:

Armpit to armpit seam: 17"
Waist seam to waist seam: 17"
from midline on the neck (of a person, not of the dress) to the hem: 51"

On receipt of item:
I list items as carefully as I can and ship them in protective packaging. Should something not be as described, please send me a convo within three days of receipt.

Holds:
I will hold an item for you for three days. If you are in need of more time you may lay an item away. To do this, I require a 50% non-refundable deposit fee. The remaining 50% plus postage is due within two weeks. If the item is not fully paid by that time, I will return it to stock and the deposit is forfeited.

Returns & exchanges

Because the fit of your wedding dress is especially important, I have the following policy for wedding dress fitting issues: if the dress is returned to me postmarked within three days of receiving the dress and in the same condition, I will return the payment except for a 15% restocking fee when I have the dress back. Postage both ways is paid for by the buyer.

Because of the unique and delicate nature of vintage clothing, I do not accept returns for other reasons, unless the description is significantly different than the item you receive.

Shipping policies

Because I work full time, as well as run this shop, I ship twice a week. Your item will be sent within five days of purchase. Please send me a note if you are in need of immediate shipping and I will do what I can to make it happen.

Please note: I will ship your item in protective plastic. It isn't as pretty as tissue paper, but it is far safer. If dropped in water, your item is protected, if the package tears, your item is protected, if it is raining when it is in transit, your item is protected.

I am happy to upgrade shipping and to send to most countries. Please ask for fees.

My shipping fees are approximate and based on a flat rate fee. If the difference between the actual cost of shipping and what was collected from you is $2 or more, I will refund the difference.

Custom and insurance fees are the purchaser's responsibility and I list the actual cost on the customs label. I will not honor requests to falsify customs forms.

Additional policies

Please ask if you have questions. I want you to be happy with your purchase and I strive to earn your positive feedback. Should you find that the item was not what you expected, please send me a note before leaving feedback. I want you to have a great Etsy experience with me!

I don't hang delicate garments on hangers! That wears at the fabric and can ruin the dress in time. I store my delicate items folded in bins.

I will put items on hold for two days.
