At last I have more Maimanas in!

9 feet 5" x 5 feet 11". Big Maimana. Persian style. White/Black/ Burgundy colours.
Closeups give best colour. Pics were taken in bright sunlight and my camera made it look lighter than it is..

This type of kilim looks lovely on wooden floors. Just right for your apartment. Many happy customers.

A lighter style woven wool big woollen handwoven mat or kilim in traditional colours. The patterning is particular to the town of Maimana and the colours are very subtle. It weighs over 5 kilos however, so sorry about the shipping cost.

Great condition. Natural vegetable dyes. Look at the lovely tones in the wool. In a very good condition, no flaws or marks or damage.

Maimana, capital of the Faryab province, is a bazaar and marketplace for kilims from the large surrounding areas of North Afghanistan and bordering Turkestan. Maimana kilims, often extremely large, and particularly hardwearing, were originally woven indoors on large vertical looms, sometimes in specially constructed Yurts (tents) by the regional Uzbeks. Subsequently, they were copied and were also woven by the many other tribes in the area, Aimaqs, Hazaras, Tajics and Turkomen.

Maimana kilims are easily recognizable by their simple patterns of diamonds and triangles, in strong reds, oranges, blues and rusty browns, the central designs often being delineated by white borders. The main borders of the kilims themselves are geometrically patterned traditional designs, such as darakht - tree design, or daryaa - river design. The wool originally used was from Hazaragi and Ghilzai sheep and was coarse and loosely spun.
