Masterfully lighted & posed 1/6 plate antebellum Dag of Albert Gallatin Fobes.
Identified by a note dated May 1903 and signed by C S Fobes.

Born in Paris, Maine, USA on 16 Jan 1809 to Amasa Fobes and Anna Eames.
Albert G Fobes has many mentions in the Maine Register from 1840 to 1856 and is listed under "Justice of the Peace and Quorum" in Portland & Westbrook.
He is also listed in "1840 Acts and resolves passed by the ... Legislature of the state of Maine"
as being the Assistant Secretary to the State Senate.

C. S. Fobes that signed the note is listed as having been in charge of Westbrook Seminary in Portland, Maine for a short period between 1859 1861.

A very clean sixth plate Dag in a lightly worn whole case.
Appears to be original seals, with a VERY LIGHT Fogging on inside of cover glass.
Case size Approx. 3 3/16" X 3 3/4".
