This dress dates to WW-I era. It contains its original silk label embroidered "Dry Goods, Etter and Pagsley LImited, Ladies Taylors, Amherst". This beautiful antique gown, which originates from Massachusetts, would be lovely for your wedding! Made of ecru silk. Shirred at the shoulders and piped with soft lace short sleeves. Nautical V collar. Perhaps she was marrying a sailor off to war? Sleeves are attached to silk underliner which must be replaced. Droplets of large pearls surround each sleeve and are repeated at the V neckline. Tiered over-skirt of multiple pleating measures 19 1/2 inches long. This over-skirt falls to the knee over beautiful scalloped edged panel of antique lace. The waist is adorned with a wide sash consisting of four tucks approx. 3 1/2 inches wide which fold into themselves when wrapped around the waist. There is an overshawl of matching antique lace finshed with pearl drops to left and right front. Hook and eye and snap closure in the rear. This dress will need restoration. There are half a dozen breaks in the lace (easily mended) at shoulder top and skirt left front. A stain appears on the hem right front. A couple of small water stains on the bodice (very muted). However, for its age, almost a century old, we consider it in very good condition.
