Yellow Fountains is a smaller (8.5"x11") hand-marbled sheet of paper. The colors are yellows, purples, browns and touches of off-white. Yellows and purples with brown accents spray upward on this bright piece. There is a minor flaw on one edge where a small air bubble was caught by the paper. It can be seen at the top of the last photo. Price has been reduced to compensate.

This piece could be used alone or in collage or card making. I could see it as part of a sunny scene or in a desert collage. It could be used for note cards or folded boxes or any number of paper crafts.

The paper is 8.5" x 11" cream card stock. Direction is long. The paper is probably too heavy to be used as pasted down endpapers, but could be used as free-standing cover stock or in many craft projects. I have used this weight to cover Davey board and, while not as flexible as lighter papers, it does work.

Marbling on paper is an ancient art form that was made popular in the 18th century for endpapers on books. To create the designs, I float acrylic paints on a gel-like liquid made from carrageenan, an extract from Irish Moss seaweed. Carragenan allows the colors to float on the surface where they can be manipulated with marbling rakes and combs into hundreds of patterns, both traditional and modern. The paper is carefully laid on top of the marbled design and the paint transfers to it. Fresh paint must be laid down for each piece of paper, ensuring that each design is unique. Patterns and colors may be similar, but like snowflakes, no two are exactly the same.

The joy of marbling lies in the beauty of the creations and the surprise every time I lift the paper and see the new sheet.
