Fantastic old In Memoriam GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) ribbon with US flag patch from John R. Andrews Post 487, Lamoni, Iowa. The GAR was founded in 1866 in Decatur, Illinois and was dissolved in 1956 when its last member died. It was suceeded by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. This ribbon is likely circa 1900.

Metal pinbar reads "GAR" and is about 2.5 inches long. Black ribbon with silver accents & flag patch is about 2.5 x 7.5 inches. Fairly good vintage condition with some wear and splits in the eagle design above flag and at center crease.
