This beautifully handmade clergy stole features crosses in green and gold metallic cotton prints, framed by four matching bands, with an additional two bands bordering each end, on a background of evergreen linen.

This is a Gothic-style stole. It has a mitered point at the back to reduce slippage, and is curved to fit around the neck. The sides are six inches wide from the chest down.

SIZES: This stole is 55" long, measured from the back of the neck.

MEASURING: For measuring instructions, copy and paste the following web address into your browser: http://www.serendipityclergystoles.com/how-to-determine-the-length-of-your-stole.html
(This is an information-only website. All my sales are made through Etsy.)

HOW MY STOLES ARE MADE: All of my stoles are stabilized with interfacing for best drape, and constructed using advanced tailoring techniques to ensure straight, smooth seams and crisp corners. The patterns used to make the stoles are of my own engineering, based on feedback I have received over the years. I have also created all of the designs myself. I draw them by hand and transfer them to card stock to make a tracing pattern for each piece. The designs are appliqued to the front of the stole prior to sewing the front and back together. First I cut the fabric shapes by hand and arrange them on the fabric. After adhering them to the stole fabric with iron-on adhesive, I stitch around each piece using a satin machine stitch and coordinating thread. This is all done manually; the sewing is not computerized at any step in the process.

ABOUT THE FABRICS: The stole is made from linen fabric. Linen fabric has naturally occurring "slubs" that add to the rich texture. The applique design is cut from hand-dyed batik fabric. Batik fabrics are made using a high thread count cotton fabric. The fabrics I purchase are usually imported from a tropical island. They are typically hand-dyed outdoors, so the colors and patterns can vary a lot. I love working with batik fabrics because the colors are so rich and the designs so earthy. The high-quality cotton is satisfying to work with and produces wonderful crisp edges.

IMPORTANT COLOR INFORMATION: The colors you see on your screen may not match exactly the colors of the stole. I do my best to adjust the photos to represent the colors as accurately as possible, as they appear on my screen. In addition, when I reorder fabric, the dye lots usually do not match exactly. Unless this difference is extreme, I do not change the photo. Occasionally, a particular fabric will be discontinued and I will replace it with something comparable. If you are in any doubt about the color of the stole, you may request one swatch at no charge.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Spot clean with a no-wash spot cleaning stick such as Tide-to-Go. Dry clean only when absolutely necessary.

DELIVERY TIME: This stole is already made and will ship within 1-2 business days.

RETURNS: For return policies, contact and other helpful information, view store policies by selecting the "Shipping & Policies" tab above.

GIVING BACK: Serendipity Clergy Stoles donates one sewing machine and one women's literacy kit, and contributes to a fund for widows and abandoned children through Gospel for Asia each month.

Frequently asked questions about SerendipityStoles

Due to a very full order schedule and complications with custom designing, I do not accept custom orders. To see my full selection go to www.serendipityclergystoles.com
Sizes are clear in the listings. For helpful information on choosing a size go to: http://www.serendipityclergystoles.com/Measure-for-a-Clergy-Stole_ep_46.html
The best cleaning care is prevention, but if your stole is soiled, it is best to spot clean your stoles with something like a "Tide-to-Go" pen. If you really need to launder your stole, dry cleaning is recommended to retain shape. Many stoles can be hand washed in cold water, and reshaped.
