QUANTITY: 12 Vintage Jade Fish 1-Hole Beads, Carved California Jade
SIZE: Approx: 1 3/16" (30mm)
STYLE: One-Hole Bead, Half-drilled (hole not drilled all the way through)
COLOR: Translucent Jade Green
UNUSED VINTAGE STOCK

PLEASE NOTE:
These are partially drilled 1-hole beads, The hole is drilled about 2mm into the jade. You would need to glue an eye hook (looped wire) in order to hang these. I would recommend long-setting (usually s stronger than quick-set) 2-part epoxy.

These are roughly carved California green jade half-drilled beads from vintage Japanese stock. Each one is unique. I prefer these to their more precise cousins as it reminds me that each piece was handled by a craftsperson much like myself. Jade is a mineral believed by many to bring good luck, prosperity and long life. This would be an added bonus as these fish are already so magical and appealing. Made in Japan in the 1950's, no two are exactly alike making it challenging to measure but they are a little less than 1 1/4" (30mm) from head to tail. There is a hole drilled partway (about 2 mm) into the mouth for inserting an eye hook or looped wire. I have used these to make simple earrings which always seem to elicit compliments from strangers.
