Facsimile of sketch drawing of three birds. The first two are Roseate Spoonbills (Platalea ajaja o Ajaia ajaja ), a gregarious wading bird of the ibis and spoonbill family. The third one is a Black Skimmer (Rynchops nigra or Rynchops niger)

The original drawing, by Frei Cristovao de Lisboa in the 17th century (1625-1631), were sketched with pencil and covered in in ink. The manuscript "Historia dos animais e árvores de Maranhao" where this facsimile comes from is in an archive in Portugal. In 1967, the archive published a study about the work of Frei Cristovao that included facsimile copies of his drawings. These prints were part of that 1967 facsimile edition.

Size: approx. 9" by 12"

In excellent condition, printed on thick paper. The uneven borders and darker areas that you see are in the original drawing that is reproduced in this vintage facsimile.

This is the actual page from a 1967 book, not a reproduction.
