This is an antique collapsible cup in a snake or alligator skin case. The cup is engraved with the name R.C. Underwood. The same name is also on the top of the case. I have tried to research R.C. Underwood and found that an R.C. Underwood was born in Tennessee in 1825 and is listed in a civil war draft list. However, I have no provenance to prove that this cup belonged to that R.C. Underwood.

Cup has a lot of patina and marks from normal wear, and is slightly bent around the top rim as shown in the photos. Opposite the engraved name, someone has scratched a light barely visible M.V.

The bottom of the cup is marked with a W. (I believe it's a W and not an M)

The case is in reasonably good shape considering age, but has some wear to the leather and stitching.

Leather case is 2 3/4 in diameter. Cup is just over 2 3/4" tall when extended.
