Three rustic vintage hanging bird cages of bent rattan with wooden tops and metal hooks. A nesting set, with removable bottoms that fit potted plants inside.

These farmhouse attic treasures have a lot of potential for use in decor. They can sit in a group, hang in a row (or one above the other in a top to bottom line), hold trailing potted plants or displays of collected objects you've found over time. They are simply made, unfussy, and therefore suit an eclectic range of styles from quaint and folksy to sleek minimalist spaces with crisp white walls.

The largest of the three cages sits about 16" tall with a bottom diameter of just under 10" across. The smallest is 9" tall and a bit over 6" across. Each cage has a bottom raised on feet, which the main domes sit nestled on/in, with small pieces of rattan that swivel to hold the parts together. They could be wired shut as well, or tied, if you'd like to be extra careful if you hang them with heavy contents. Because they are made by hand of natural materials, they aren't perfectly round or straight, but have their own character. Each one has a wooden knob at the top with a sturdily screwed in metal hook for hanging.

Condition is quite good, with some signs of age. The largest cage has some split cracks in the wooden knob from the wood drying over time. It is also missing one of the topmost arcs of rattan. You can clearly see both of these flaws in photograph #5, and know that the cage is still sturdy and will hang or sit just fine. As well, these are truly from a farmhouse attic, and have some dust, and fading, and some rusty darkening around the tiny metal tacks in the bottoms. There is some soft splintering at the splice joints typical of rattan. No glue is used in the construction; the dome pieces are tucked into drilled holes, and should one pop out (see top right of photo 4) it can be pressed back in. They have no unpleasant smell, show no signs whatsoever of moisture issues, and are as charming and lovable in person as they appear to be in the photos.
