here is a very cool vintage machine
a mini slide projector
made in Japan for Lafayette electronics, circa 1950s -60s

The case is made of light wood with a red & croc-embossed paper covering. It has a leather carrying handle on top, a hinged clip on each end, and a red metal Lafayette tag riveted to one side. Underneath are four rubber feet and a metal grill to help cool it off.

The projector is one good-looking machine in industrial grey coated metal with a great streamlined shape. The lens piece swivels down and has a resistance screw to secure it in place. The two grey knobs on front allow you to adjust the height and level, and the lens telescopes out so you can adjust it for distance differences and make the picture projection nice and crisp. The lens is a Kawai Rika Tri River 1:3.5 f=80mm.

Now this isn't your standard carousel type projector -- since this is a portable version, to show a slide, you have to hold it in front of the light source. For those times when you need it to be hands-free or want a smoother transition from one slide to the next, it can be used with a slide exchanger which isn't included. I've seen them online for around $10-$20, but you definitely don't need one in order to use this projector.

condition: looks great, works great! The box is worn on the edges but still strong and sturdy. The lens, bulb, everything on the projector is in good working condition. The grey paint/powder coating looks almost new except for some rubwear on the front where the slide goes. Also the grey plastic housing in the same place has a small crack but this is a minor cosmetic issue only. The last picture shows some slides viewed with the projector...I'll have those in store soon in case you like that sort of thing~

with the case, it measures 8.5" wide, 6" tall, and 4.5" deep
