This one of a kind prototype is one of the very first pieces ever made by Atrocities in the early 1990's! It was inspired by the 1919 cult film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", along with Dracula's coach driver from the 1931 film of "Dracula". At one point, this was worn to a stage production of "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", and the actor who played the role of Dr. Caligari, immediately noticed & complimented the coat, saying it was "much nicer than the one he got to wear" on stage! ;) It has been carefully stored ever since, and is still in like new condition.

The coat is made of *heavyweight*, luxurious black camel hair (the camel hair cost $70 per yard, and this coat took approx. 6 1/2 yards to make, not including the pure silk charmeuse ~ so this is actually being offered as a sample prototype for less than the cost of materials!), which is extremely durable and wears beautifully over time. with the area throughout the upper torso being lined in rich black satin, and the capelet being lined in a vibrant purple, incredibly soft to the touch silk charmeuse! It closes down the front with English antique buttons made from silver metal, and has two pockets. The hem has a unique style in that it is dramatically higher in front and then flows down through the sides to a longer back. The coat has a long (approx 22" measured from the nape of the neck to hem) capelet and a collar for added style and warmth, and one of the original Atrocities skull clothing labels sewn in by hand.

This coat is great for layering atop other items and keeping warm in the winter. The chest measures approx. 54" in the chest (allowing ample room to use it as an overcoat ~ for instance, it's being shown on a model with a 38" chest, so it can easily fit a range of larger or smaller sizes), has a front length of approx 29 1/2" (measured from the shoulder down to the hem), a back length of approx. 44 1/2" (measured from the nape of the neck to the hem), and a sleeve length of approx. 27".

This is a wonderful opportunity to own a rare, one of a kind '90's-era Atrocities prototype great coat made from luxurious materials.
