Soda firing is a process similar to salt glazing, but minus the harmful pollutants. Soda firing uses sodium bicarbonate and/or soda ash introduced into the kiln at peak temperature to produce a hard, safe glaze. The soda vapors swirl unpredictably in the kiln, changing the glazes in wonderful and often surprising ways. Hitting the pot from various angles, the vapors produce warm orange colored flashing on the naked clay and where thick, often an orange-peel texture.

Food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
