Authentic vintage sea pottery pieces collected from the North Sea coast of Kirkcaldy, Scotland. These small pieces are each unique and one-of-a-kind, with a nice mix of solids and patterns.

These 55 pieces range in size from approximately 3/4 inch or less (see quarter for sizing). All pieces have smooth, surf tumbled edges and would work well for jewelry pendants, mosaics, or other creative projects.

These pieces were hand collected by me, gently washed, and come packaged with care for safe delivery.

Pottery manufacturing in Kirkcaldy started in 1714. By 1890, there were four factories in operation, producing everything from tea cups and plates to spittoons and figurines. Kirkcaldy was the perfect location for pottery production. An abundance of clay found in local soil, as well as coal to fire the kilns, created a thriving industry. At its peak, over 400 people in the town were employed in the creation of pottery. With easy access to the harbor, ships carried Kirkcaldy pottery around the world. Some pieces, such as the exclusive hand painted Wemyss Ware, gained international attention and was known to be some of the best pottery to be produced in Scotland.

Sadly, the Depression brought a sudden end to over two centuries of manufacturing in the small seaside town. Although the exact age of these pieces is unknown, they are a small part of Scottish history, certain to be at least 80 years old!
