Beautiful, soft and lustrous soy fibre, the vegetable alternative to silk!

I hand-dyed it with acid dyes, in a technique known (here in the UK) as space-dyeing, colours poured across the tops in stripes and steamed to set.

This colourway I called Shamrock, all shades of green from a kind of limey gold, through shades of eau-de-nil, jade and grass/leafy green. It is very hard to describe in words, but somehow the colours manage to be vibrant yet muted at the same time, I think it is the sheen of the soy that creates the effect.

The colour sequence repeats about every yard, so you can vary the colour effects as you spin. Spin just as it comes for long sections of colour, or split the top down and pre-draft for shorter colour bursts. Then you have the further option of plying it back on itself to mingle the colours, or navajo ply to keep them distinct. It would also look beautiful spun as a single and plied with a wool thread in a toning colour.

I have included several pictures, to try and give a good idea of the colour, but I can't guarantee that it will look exactly the same on your screen as it does on mine!

So this listing is for a bag of Shamrock dyed soybean tops weighing approx 100g.

Any questions, please get in touch - I'm always happy to answer!
