It used to be a that when you made granny squares you cleaned out your stash of "extra" yarns--making sure you didn't waste any little bit of yarn no matter how small that had been left from other projects, then you edged them all in a single color--usually black, but any solid that worked well with all the shades could be used. This afghan is a bit of throwback to that tradition.

This vibrant beauty is my latest clean out of my stash. No two blocks are exactly the same, and some times even individual rounds are not all the same yarn.

It is composed of 49 traditional American-style granny squares (each block is approximately 6-6 1/2" square).

Overall the lap rug is approximately 45" square.

While the yarns are not all from the same company, they are all a soft worsted-weight and washable. I would, however, suggest you don't throw it in a dryer the first time you wash it, just block it dry so it doesn't shrink.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss an afghan in a color scheme more to your tastes.
