Similar to my IPAD Case in another listing, but larger and PERFECT as a document case, folio, attache, briefcase alternative, etc. Measures roughly 13.25 wide x 9 inches top to bottom inside dimensions. (13.75 inches outside)

This luxurious Full Grain Leather Folio (briefcase alternative) is wonderful for those times when you want to carry a LIGHTER load and don't need the size and weight of a full briefcase. Carries letter size documents and regular notepads, etc. Holds at least 80 letter size documents with ease when it's new and more once it breaks in. My personal case holds over 200 sheets after a few months use. You can probably throw in a 'thin' ham sandwich to boot if you don't mind it getting a little squished.

Made of beautiful - rugged & FIRM full grain 6oz veg tan leather; is very durable and will help protect whatever you carry inside. It will develop a wonderful natural patina over time and will become heirloom quality as only full grain veg tan leather can do. (Gets better with age)

Please note: It is very likely on a hunk of leather this big that there will be minor scars or range marks. It is unavoidable. These slight imperfections are what separate leather from Vinyl. I use the best available FULL GRAIN leather which has imperfections in it but is a superior leather that develops a wonderful patina with time and use. Less expensive TOP GRAIN leathers (which are surface sanded and usually sprayed) do not patina as beautifully as FULL GRAIN.

I make these cases ONE BY ONE.

*****Please see below for HOW I MAKE THIS CASE*****

The sleeve shown is hand stained in Antique Brown, (a special color of stain that requires several steps to complete (see below) ..) but it is also available in natural.

Has a latigo leather wrap around closure that doesn't get in the way of the good looks of the leather. Please NOTE: The lace shown in the picture may vary in color from the actual lace used depending on shade of brown is available at the time.

Making this case requires several days prep time, plus a final day for finish. Using the slow process I do renders a beautiful GLOW to the leather not achievable any other way. Here's what I do.

1: I cut the leather from a double shoulder of (expensive) Premium veg tan.
I edge the leather using a special tool called an "edger". (imagine that)
I dampen the leather and stamp on your initials on the front flap(Or wherever you want them) and stamp my makers mark on the back out of the way.
I lay a grove for the stitching...
Antique Brown:
I apply a very WET first coat of a special stain mixture.
I let the first coat DRY as the leather is pretty much saturated at this point.

2: I apply a build up of four to five light washes of a leather dye and let that dry a couple of hours. When dry I apply light mists of a darker dye. I then let everything dry (again)

3: If necessary, I add another light coat of dye...

If I'm satisfied with the overall color, I'm ready to oil the leather with a light coat of neatsfoot, and let it soak in overnight.

4: If everything looks satisfactory, I'll apply 1 light coat of a proprietary sealer. This renders a mellow sheen to the leather,

5: I stitch up the case , buff it, and lightly stain the edges.

6: the case is prepared for shipping.
