The entire history of footwear from ancient times to the 20 Century is concisely detailed in "The Mode in Footwear" written by R. Turner Wilcox, and published by Charles Scribners and Sons in 1948.

Egyptian footwear, Roman footwear, East Indian footwear, Early 20th Century shoes for women and men, these and many more eras and styles are included in this beautifully illustrated volume.

This book is an amazing addition to any library, but is particularly great as a comprehensive, illustrative reference for designers, costumers, and artists. This particular edition comes from the library of Capezio Inc. in New York City.

Unlike most vintage books, the edition is in excellent overall condition. The binding and spine are strong. The cover is clean black linen. And, inside pages show no discoloration or staining.
