Only master storyteller Tomi Ungerer could pen a tale of a vulture that is a hero and make it not only enjoyable, but downright wonderful. Orlando is a Mexican vulture. One day he spies a dying gold miner, and unable to help him, he takes his posessions and set out to find the man's family. Not only does Orlando find them (all the way off in Prattleborough, Vermont) but he accompanies them back to Mexico to find the lost miner and bring him home. It takes a bandit kidnapping, a double rescue by Indians and the recovery of a lost gold mine to bring it all to a happy conclusion and our hero Orlando is there at every turn. Wild, wacky, creative and fun, fun, fun.

This copy is ex-library in good vintage condition. The DJ is protected by a clear plastic cover (taped to inside of book) but does have wear, please see scanned picture. The pages are clean and nice with mild reading wear. The title page and one story page contains a library stamp. The pasges are tightly bound and spine is strong. Nice copy of a hard to find title.

Tomi Ungerer vintage kids book Orlando the Brave Vulture, great illustrations, funny story of a gold miner, a hero bird, bandits and a boy
