This tough, blocky bird house is built from a central Texas pecan log. The log is spalted as the others I have built, giving its light colored wood its black streaks and lines. Its unique beauty will be appreciated by your family and friends if you make this house part of your collection. The log is slightly over 5 in in diameter. The house is about 7 1/2 in wide by about 10 in tall. It measures about 8 1/2 in front to back including the perch. The bird opening is 1 1/2 in. The roof is made from recycled cedar boards. The ridge crown is from white ash. The chimney and window shelves are from Russian Olive wood. The other trim pieces are from aspen root, mosses and spruce cones. The seed pods are acorns.
I attached the plywood bottom with screws for easy removal for cleaning. I sprayed the exterior with a coat of Polyurethane to help protect it from the elements and to enhance its beauty.
These pecan houses are special and will make wonderful gifts for a loved one. If you have any questions about it please contact me.
