This plate dates from the last quarter of the 19th centry (1875-1900). It has been made by the manufacturer Hte Boulenger & Cie.

Diameter: 7.8 inches.

Joan lived from 1412 to 1431.

Joan was born in Lorraine in France daughter of peasants. 16 years old she hears the voices of Saint Michel, Saint Catherine and Saint Marguerite who asks her to free France from the English forces who were then occupying France. She stands up as the leader of a small army which manages to free Orleans and allows Charles VII to be blessed in Reims. She is made prissoner in Compienge and is delivered to the English forces. She is then accused of whitchcraft and bruned 19 years old. After her dead she was rehabilitated by the church. She was declared saint in 1920.

Joan of Arc is the patron saint of France.
