This beautiful and interesting older vintage Sterling Silver Scrimshaw bracelet has 5 links with the traditional art of etching seafaring scenes on ivory, which often depicted sailing ships and whaling scenes. Each scene is highly detailed and each scene is different. Followed through link by link the scenes tell a story. This is Pre-ban Ivory and we estimate that the bracelet is from the 1970's and possibly earlier.

The bracelet is signed "Sterling" and "Verna" on the backside of one of the links, which can be seen in Photo No. 4. It measures very close to 6 3/4" long and it will best fit an average to smaller than average wrist. My wrist measures 6 1/2" and, although, I can wear it comfortly it fits snugly.

The bracelet has a solid substantial weight and feel and weighs a total of 15 grams.

Condition: excellent vintage. The bracelet is very well made with a sturdy foldover clasp and an attached Sterling Silver safety chain. I see no damage to the piece. The Sterling has developed a softened patina but it has not darkened. We have left the bracelet in "as found" condition.

This is a beautiful, traditional and collectible bit of history.
