A fabulous vintage biscuit tin, produced in the art deco era of the 1920s - but I've no notion of the company I'm afraid.

The circular tin is gorgeously decorated on the lid with a typically art deco scene - Pierrot and his lady Columbine at a Masked Ball, or Bal Masqué... Pierrot wears his traditional white and black costume and carries some red balloons, and the lady is seated, wearing a huge red crinoline dress, a black mask and holding a fan.

A diamond-patterned floor in black and gold and sunray beams of gold behind add to the art deco style. The sides of the box have a riot of golden balloons all around.

The tin is in very well-used vintage condition, with some mottling and pitting to the design, which does give it a great shabby chic finish - and some evidence of its past use can just be made out where someone has scratched 'The Gang Rules etc' into the top - but there is no other damage.

It measures 18 cm/7" across and about 5 cm/2" high. It weighs 200 gms, and the estimated packaged weight is 600 gms.
