In the 1960s, Levino Verna's designs were included in the couture collections of upscale department stores. This sensational mid-60s dress comes from Dayton's Oval Room in Minneapolis. Verna also designed the costumes for at least one Broadway production ("Absurd Person Singular", which ran from 1974 to 1976).

A note about the Oval Room: Dayton's was a high-end department store opened as "Dayton's Dry Goods" in Minneapolis in the early 1900s. Dayton's existed for almost a century before it was bought out by Marshall Field. The Oval Room was the exclusive section in the store for designer & couture wear.
