A lovely woodland themed tower.

Bob Twinkletoes: So what do you think of this tower?

Kate Bloombuzz: Really beautiful green roof, perfect for camoflaging your humble fairy home from intruders, the floral frieze on one side is fetchin!

Bob Twinkletoes: Yes, you can set this up outdoors by planting a small steel rod or a bamboo stake into the ground or a flowerpot.

Kate Bloombuzz: Yes, but remember it is a summer home and take it indoors in the winter. Or just keep it indoors, it looks beautiful with miniature figurines or in a terrarium.

Bob Twinkletoes: You could fill it with soil and put it on a dish, plant it with sedum or other plant that doesn't mind cramped quarters.

Kate Bloombuzz: Bob, that's a great idea, the porcelain is very hard wearing.

Bob Twinkletoes: Well, that's it for "This Old Fairy House", we'll see you next time when we investigate fungal gardens.

This fairy tower measures just a hair under 8 inches (20cm tall) and 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter. Does not include the steel tent stake that might be visible or the flowerpot full of thyme in the photograph.

Each tower was hand built over a narrow paper towel roll, stamped with patterns and sculptural elements added..After painting, each piece is dipped in clear glaze and then fired to ~2200F/1200C. The entire process for a kiln load takes 2-3 weeks.

This tower was completed on July 4, 2012 and is one of 100 pieces in the firing. The July 4 firing was unsigned by the artist due to a brain fart. I can sign with a sharpie if desired.
