Belle of the Ball.

I'm in love with this vintage 1950s royal blue prom dress. It is so lovely! Tiny too. The dress would make a FABULOUS party dress. Great for a wedding too! The maker's label has been removed; the only thing that remains is small piece of the paper label showing that there used to be a label in the bodice. The dress has some issues. I ask you, who wouldn't after 60-ish plus years? The condition is noted below and has been taken into consideration when pricing the dress.

History/Backstory: A Vintage Virginia Find.

Condition: Good. First off, the color is AMAZING. The boldest, prettiest royal blue. The back metal zipper runs smoothly. The tulle is still attached to the inside of the dress and there are no holes. One of my favorite things about the dress are the attached dress shields. They are safety pinned in. So sweet and it saved the dress from underarm staining. Minor and easy fix: the back hook needs to be reattached. The yellow backing of the dress is torn in many places. I don't think it affects the wearability of the dress but you may want to remove and or replace. Please see Photo 4. The bigger issue is the stain on the front of the dress. I must admit, I didn't see it when I bought it; it blends in with the dress. Please see Photo 5; two pics of the same area. The stains are at the bottom on the front of the dress. It is a purplish blue. It may be ink. I don't know. I haven't tried to clean nor have I taken it to the dry cleaners. I think the dress is still very wearable and absolutely gorgeous. There is one tiny pinprick hole at the top of the bodice that you can only see when you hold it up to light. It is not shown in the photos. Please convo if you would like additional photos.

Label: No Label.

Material: No material label. It feels and looks like silk brocade.

Care: No Label. I would suggest a top rate dry cleaner.

Measurements:

(All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat and all buttons buttoned, zippers zipped....you get the idea. Measurements are doubled where appropriate, i.e. for bust, waist, hips. Measurements are in inches. I still haven't mastered the metric system.) Please note that clothes are usually pinned for the best fit on the skinny minny mannequin and dress form.

Length: 35"

Bust: 31"

Waist: 22"

Hips: 40" (free)

Back (shoulder to shoulder): 11 1/2"

Sleeve (shoulder to cuff): 10"
